A Louisiana standard residential lease agreement is a common form used by landlords to legally bind a tenant when renting property. The lease is for a fixed-term (start and end date), with the most popular length of time being a 1-year period. Before lease signing, the landlord will usually ask the tenant for their personal information through a rental application and charge a small fee. Once the verification is complete and the tenant is approved, the landlord will agree to a lease with a security deposit and the first month’s rent due at signing.
