An Ohio bill of sale is a document that includes transactional details between a buyer and seller of personal property. It acts both as a receipt and a record of a transaction that can be used by the buyer for registration or accounting purposes.

A bill of sale should only be signed after it the transaction has taken place between the parties.

  • A completed Certified Watercraft Registration Application (DNR 8460R);
  • Bill of Sale;
  • If the boat needs to be titled, a notarized copy of the original title signed over to the buyer, or for new vehicles purchased through a dealer, a manufacturer’s statement of origin. For a list of Ohio Title Offices where the title may be officially transferred, click here;
  • Valid driver’s license or identification; and
