A New Jersey boat bill of sale is a document that presents information about the buyer, seller, and boat involved in a legal sale and purchase of a boat. The form also serves as proof of the change of ownership. It may be a necessity to register a boat with the state.
Signing Requirements : The form has to be signed by the seller and buyer. It also has to be notarized.

Registering a Boat
A new boat owner must register the watercraft with the state of New Jersey within ten (10) days of the purchase date. Registration renewal is available online , in-person at a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission office , or by mail to an MVC office .

New boat owners can register their watercrafts in-person at an MVC office .

- Boat Registration Application (Form BA-51) ;
- Certificate of title;
- Registration fees ; and
- Universal Title Application (Form OS/SS-UTA) .
