A Minnesota motor vehicle bill of sale is a legal document that serves as a recording that two (2) parties have executed the sale of a motor vehicle. The document also establishes a change of ownership and provides the required information for the vehicle’s registration. This form requires notarization.

Registering a Vehicle
New residents and vehicle owners have sixty (60) days to register their vehicle after moving and purchasing, respectively. Registration must be renewed annually. Owners can renew online , in person at a DVS Deputy Registrar’s office , or by mail.
Where to Register
Vehicle owners can register and renew in person at a DVS Deputy Registrar’s office or by regular mail with an Application to Title and Register a Motor Vehicle (PS2000) . They can also renew online at the Minnesota DMV’s website .

- Bill of Sale ;

- Certificate of Title (apply for a replacement title by mail or at a Deputy Registrar office );
- Valid driver’s license;
- Minnesota Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney (required if someone is registering the vehicle on the owner’s behalf);

Minimum Requirements
:
- Not less than $10,000 due to the destruction of property;
- Not less than $30,000 due to bodily injury to one person; and
- Not less than $60,000 due to bodily injury to two or more persons.
